Smaller images, same pictures
Modern phone cameras save photos at 3–12 MB each, and screenshots or graphics exported as PNG can be surprisingly large. Most of that data is detail your eyes won't miss at normal viewing sizes. CNVRT re-encodes images with efficient settings (progressive JPEG with optimized chroma for photos, palette-based PNG optimization for graphics) so they load faster and fit upload limits.
Your images keep their pixel dimensions and format: a 4000×3000 JPG stays a 4000×3000 JPG, just lighter.
Privacy bonus: hidden metadata removed
Photos often carry hidden EXIF data such as the GPS location where they were taken, the camera serial number and timestamps. Compression removes this metadata, which both saves space and protects your privacy when you share pictures online. Color profiles are kept, so colors look the same, and photos are rotated correctly before the orientation tag is removed.
Which format compresses best?
JPG is best for photos and typically shrinks 60–90%. PNG is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency and often shrinks 50–80% through smart color reduction. WebP is already efficient but can still be reduced. GIF animations are optimized frame by frame, and TIFF scans can be reduced dramatically by switching to efficient in-file compression.
